What does it mean to be a Christian?

What Does It Mean to be a Christian? Jesus Christ is the most written about, spoken about, and thought about person in history. He may well be the most controversial person ever. People have been divided over His words. He made claims that call for everyone's attention because He spoke of eternal life, judgment, heaven and hell. Certainly, those subjects effect everyone!

What does it mean to be a Christian? How does one become a Christian? There are simple answers, complex answers and many answers to these questions. The simple answer is you must believe in your heart that Jesus rose from the dead and you must confess that fact. The more complex answers have to do with the depth and reality of your belief. Are you really in the faith or is your confession not really true to you?

People from every nation, every people group and from every conceivable background have found personal salvation in Christ and speak of personal relationship with Him. And, although their paths to Christ reflect the great diversity within the Christian faith, there is one indisputable fact concerning personal discovery of Jesus: He is true, He is real and can be known!

Please consider the scriptures provided below.

“Whoever calls upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Acts 2.21)

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10.9)

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,

to those who believe on His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1.12,13)

“I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe,

I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him,

the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” (John 12.46-48)
